But social media is a great way to expand your brand presence, inform your followers and find new clients. Below, I’ve put together some social media post ideas for law firms and solicitors.
Share tips and advice on your specialism
You know more about the law than most people. So build authority on social media and position your business as someone who can answer questions when times are tough, by sharing advice and useful tips on your specialism. Perhaps you’re a family law specialist, or maybe only corporate? Share news and break down the jargon.
You could also ask your staff to create videos of them sharing advice and tips on law.
Over time, you’ll build a reputation for being an approachable firm, and people will naturally choose you for advice and therefore use your services.
React to news and events
Not a week goes by without a court case hitting the headlines or a proposed change in legalisation, and you’ll no doubt already be on the ball with law news. So share news and updates on your social media channels, or write your own blog posts to share on your channels too.
Going behind the scenes
One of the best ways to generate engagement on social media is by going behind the scenes and allowing your followers to see what your business ‘gets up to’.
Take photos when you attend events, have themes or fundraisers in the office, and let people see what goes on in your firm. By humanising the business, people will be more likely to remember you when they need your services – or at least, recommend your law firm to their family and friends.
Social media is all about engagement.
Start discussions with your followers, asking questions like “How has your life changed since you bought your first home?” or “What do you find most valuable about a solicitor?” Open-ended questions can spark debates, improving the post’s algorithms (how likely they are to appear in people’s feeds) whilst showing your business as a ‘thought leader’.
Have some fun
Not everything on social media needs to be corporate and law-heavy.
Going off topic and having some fun can make your social media channels more effective. People who at this time may not be in need of your services, will still interact if you tweet along to a TV show like The Great British Bake Off, or jump on a trend like ‘Bring Your Pet to Work Day’.
