Why use a social media manager?

July 22, 2025/in Uncategorized

Are you wondering if a social media manager is really worth it for your business? We’re going to walk you through the real benefits of bringing a social media manager on board and why it might just be the smartest move for your brand’s growth and visibility. Read on.

Your content will be consistent

Brands who post consistently tend to see more engagement, not because they’ve cracked some secret formula, but because they’ve built trust. People notice when you’re present and so do the social media algorithms. Even just one weekly post can go further than a short burst of activity followed by nothing.

Social platforms reward steady effort. They’re designed to keep people scrolling and they rely on creators to help make that happen. When your content shows up consistently, it’s more likely to be seen and remembered.

There’s no set pattern that works for everyone. And at GSWG, we prioritise quality over quantity of posts.

We know running a business is a lot and managing social media is like taking on another job. With a social media manager, posting consistently becomes one less thing for you to worry about. No need to plan, write, or remember to hit “publish.” A social media manager will take care of it all.

Your content will be professional

When someone lands on your social media for the first time, how it looks and feels matters. Clear, well-organised content helps build trust and shows people you’re serious about what you do. It signals that you’re a reliable source and makes it easier for them to feel confident choosing you.

Professional content tends to draw more attention from the people you want to reach. An interesting caption, strong visuals or engaging video can help your message stand out and make a great impression.

At GSWG, we’ve spent over 10 years helping businesses present themselves online professionally, tailoring the type of content we create and language we use for each business we work with. From graphics and photography, to video creation and copywriting, we focus on keeping things authentic and relevant, so your content connects to your target audience.

Your content will be engaging

The key to engaging content is knowing your audience. It’s about understanding what they find useful and engaging, and showing up where they already spend time online.

Encouraging interaction is important. Simple things like asking questions, sharing behind-the-scenes updates, sharing user-generated content or running a giveaway can make a big difference.

We’ve supported businesses across a range of industries and we’ve found that what works always depends on the audience. That’s why we take time to understand what engagement looks like for each client and adjust our approach accordingly. We analyse the top performing posts for our clients regularly to see which styles of posts are more engaged with.

Your content will be creative

Creating strong content takes time. Filming facilities, capturing product shots, getting the right angles… It’s more than just grabbing a few visuals. And when video is involved, the editing stage can easily become the most time-consuming part.

Planning ahead makes a big difference. When there’s a clear idea of what needs to be captured, it’s easier to work efficiently and avoid time wasting during the visit. The creative process often starts before the camera’s even rolling, thinking about what will land well on socials and what your audience will actually enjoy.

Before a site visit, we outline the types of content to aim for. That includes pieces where staff might need to be involved, as well as things we can handle solo, like showing the space or focusing on specific products. Once captured, we edit everything and get it social-ready.

Your content will be strategic

A clear strategy starts with knowing what your business wants to achieve such as brand awareness, lead generation, increased website traffic or direct sales. These goals guide the type of content you share and how you measure its impact.

It’s important to check if your content is reaching the right people. Engagement levels (likes, comments, shares) help you understand how well your message is landing.

Sharing a variety of content also helps build long-term interest. It gives your audience more ways to connect and keeps your feed fresh.

At Get Social with Grace, we meet regularly with clients to review performance and analytics, and strategise on what we can do to reach more people through organic content creation.

Your marketing will be aligned

Your message needs to work across the board, from social media to your website, email marketing and even printed materials. It’s all about making sure your promotions, events and updates feel connected, rather than scattered and inconsistent.

Beyond managing your social channels, we can also manage your email marketing, blog writing, and analyse your website. We’re all about strengthening the way your brand communicates, so everything feels together and purposeful.

7 years of Get Social with Grace

April 3, 2025/in Uncategorized

It’s been 7 years since Get Social with Grace launched.

In April 2018, I took the leap in starting my own business, creating social media content for businesses.

In the last 7 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with a huge amount of businesses of all kinds. We’re talking wine companies, landscapers, architects, business coaches, restaurants, homeopaths, e-commerce companies, non-profits, a farm shop, drone company, florist, men’s clothing brand, telecoms company, London fashion boutique, and a pop up vegan food stall. I could go on!

(Shoutout to my present clients who began working with me over 5 years ago: Warren Services, FWD Accounts, Ingilby Paints and Auto Innovations).

Top left to bottom right: filming at manufacturing company, food photography day, coffee shop client in North London, client pizza-making workshop, Wine GB East awards 2022, staff profile creation, fine wine investment company tour, event sponsorship content creation)

A timeline from the past 7 years
  • April 2018: launched Get Social with Grace
  • June 2018: I received my first written testimonial in June 2018 from Yorkshire business coach Chris Henry. I’ve now received over fifty 5-star reviews on Google!
  • September 2018: attending my first ever networking event. 4Network. I went on to attend SO many more throughout the years.
  • January 2019: the launch of a new service – 1-2-1 social media training. Through networking, I came across many business owners who wanted to keep their social media marketing in-house, but still needed support in doing in most effectively. This is where my training sessions came in. Since launching, I’ve helped sports clubs, travel agents, builders, yoga instructors, virtual assistants, cleaning companies, estate agencies, solicitors, a magician, and many more businesses improve their social media presence.

  • April 2020: with the national lockdown happening, although I was fortunate enough to keep hold of over 50% of my clients, the decrease in work gave me the opportunity to work on my own business, which included making improvements to my website.
  • June 2020: I joined the BNI Cambridge Fitzwilliam networking group, remaining a member for over 3 years which hugely accelerated my business. For those years it was a big part of my business. I became part of a community of many other business owners, my business grew extremely quickly through the network, and I was challenged to present in front of over 50 people and manage the networking group for a 12 month period.

  • June 2022: new branding! After over 4 years, it was time to ditch the old logo I’d created myself (good old Canva) and get something more professionally made that still reflected my business.

  • August 2022: I took on my first employee, Daniela from Bristol, who worked with me remotely for 18 months.
  • July 2023: my partner Danny joined the wonderful world of being self-employed! More about his courier business here.
  • October 2023: my whole world completely changed for the better when my little Ella was born. I took a temporary step back from the business for 3 months to enjoy those first precious moments. It still ran with support from my mum and through sneaking in the odd hour of work here and there during naptime.

  • March 2024: although returning part-time, I came back to work more officially with structured days, Monday-Wednesday. Getting back to business and obtaining new clients!
  • May 2024: I welcomed Charlotte into the team as a social media assistant. Charlotte came straight from graduating in Fashion Design and Marketing, and currently works with me three days per week. She assists me in content creation, strategy brainstorming, and is a great asset to my business.

And that’s pretty much it for now! The business is continuing to grow and evolve, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the next few years bring and how much we can achieve before the 10 year mark. I know this little monkey’s keen to have a role! Maybe one day.

Instagram collaborations: what are they and how can you maximise their impact?

March 12, 2025/in Uncategorized

Although the feature has been enabled since 2021, you may have spotted more collaboration posts on Instagram lately as users are tapping into it to get more eyes on their content. We’re going to break down what Instagram collabs are, when to use them and how you can maximise their impact. By the end, you’ll have some tips and tricks up your sleeve to improve your presence and grow your followers with Instagram collaborations.

What is an Instagram collaboration?

Instagram collabs are feed posts that can be co-authored and shared by multiple accounts. The original author can invite up to five other accounts to collaborate when posting. If the recipient accepts, the post will be shared onto their feeds to their own followers.

You can make a collab post for anything in the feed, including reels, photos or carousel posts. The only feature you can’t use this on is Instagram Stories.

It’s also worth noting that all collaborators share the post and engagement. However, the original poster still “owns” the post. So, if they decide to delete the post or even deactivate their account, the post will disappear from all feeds. Co-collaborators can also hide the post from their grid – it’ll just appear on their audiences’ timelines.

How are Instagram collabs different from tagging?

Instagram collabs are different to tags and mentions. When you use tags and mentions, your post is only visible to your followers and appears in your own feed. But Instagram collaborations mean the post will appear in both your feed and your collaborator’s feed, allowing you to reach their audience as well. So if there are two additional collaborators, that’s potentially triple the amount of exposure on a post.

Also, Insta collabs require acceptance from each additional person. Only when accepted, the post will appear on both profiles’ main timelines, giving it more visibility and engagement potential.

Examples of Instagram collaborations we have created for our clients

Completed projects

Have you worked with other businesses on a project? Invite them all to collaborate on your post! If you’re within the same industry, it’s likely that you’ll have crossover in your target audience, therefore it’s going to give you fantastic exposure to appear on their timelines. This collaborative approach strengthens networks, promotes teamwork and helps more people see what your business, all while potentially leading to new opportunities.

Sharing completed projects is a great way to use this tool for anyone in the trades industry, like the example below.

Working with influencers and content creators

Instagram’s collaboration feature is another way for brands and influencers to team up. The influencer can share a post or reel that also shows up on the business’s profile, helping both sides reach more people. For influencers, it’s a chance to highlight their work with different brands. For businesses, it’s an opportunity to showcase their products to new audiences. You can even tag up to five collaborators if others have been involved in the project. It’s a straightforward way to work together and share the results.

Working with influencers, no matter their audience size, can be a helpful way to use this tool and introduce your brand to more people.

Giveaways

Giveaways are always popular, especially when they feature products from top brands. Multi-brand giveaways have become more common lately, bringing several brands together in a single campaign. This approach helps attract a wider audience and makes it easier to keep track of engagement, like comments and likes, without needing to monitor multiple posts. Plus it means giving away a bigger prize!

If you’re planning to team up with another brand or content creator, using the Instagram collaboration tool is a great way to share the giveaway across all involved accounts, doing the work of creating the giveaway post only once.

The Instagram collaboration tool is a handy resource for businesses and is effective in growing your audience organically. By choosing the right moments to collaborate, you can create more organic engagement and potentially attract new followers and leads. This tool helps build partnerships and extends your reach, allowing your brand to connect with a broader audience.

Those who have had to search for free stock photos on the internet will know what a hassle it can be. Free stock photos are tricky to find, with a lot of companies charging £10 or more for just a single photo. Then even when you can find them for free, they’re often watermarked or in low resolution.

The benefits of your business being on social media

April 23, 2018/in Uncategorized

There was a time where social media was just considered something that “the kids” were using, and just a passing phase. But now with over 3 billion internet users with over 2 billion of them having active social media accounts, the sceptics were proved wrong.
